Rockin' Docs

Rockin' Docs Summer Camp is a health oriented camp aimed at children in grades 1-6 that runs for two weeks in July and/or August. The camp is completely free to attend with our target demographic being elementary school children from lower income families. Rockin' Docs promotes healthy living and positive life choices during the formative years by teaching children how to start healthy and stay healthy as they grow up. We provide transit passes and meals for our campers to allow them to get to camp free of charge and to reduce the burden of parents having to pack lunches. Mornings are typically spent with physician guest speakers who lead the campers through interactive learning activities such as demos and body models; while afternoons are typically spent outside with activities and games such as soccer to keep the kids healthy and active. The camp is completely run by volunteer medical students who act as camp coordinators and camp counsellors, with funding provided by many generous community sponsors. From previous feedback, this camp has been a great experience for the children, volunteers, as well as the Faculty and we have received positive media attention every year.
